Well if you are reading this, it’s because of your parents. The parent-child bond is one of the most precious relationships and at the same time is a bit complicated, especially if you’re Indian. The period of being a youngster plays a vital role. Certain things you won’t understand and others your parents won’t.
So dear parents, we have somethings to tell you. Right now as we grow up, we may look like confused souls. Unaware of our goals in life! We know that you are guiding us all through thick and thin.
1 Everything will fall into place. We’ll surely make something out of our lives and make you proud. All we need is time and your trust. Our generation dates more people than you ever thought in your youthful days. That doesn’t mean we are a bunch of materialistic and youngsters who do not value relationships.
2We may have a different opinion with your set of ethics and morals. That doesn’t mean we do not value our culture.
3Life has never ever shown mercy towards us also. It was hard for you, we agree. It hasn’t been easy for us either. As a youngster, we have learnt a lot from your life experiences and corrected our mistakes. But life is equally difficult for us in numerous ways you may not have ever experienced.
4We are growing each day and our friend circle plays an important role in our lives. But please don’t think that we get influenced by them and live according to their ways. Yes we do take their suggestions and views into consideration before taking each important step in our life.
5Yes we do love to party and spend time with our friends. Sometimes it consumes a complete day and you feel that we are irresponsible. We do worry about our careers and our savings like anyone else. Be assured of that!
6Often we end up drinking, partying or wearing certain kind of trendy clothes. But that doesn’t speak about our character. All party freaks who drink and go with the fashion sleep around? No.
7We may find it hard to identify and go according to the social norms as you do. But that shouldn’t be a reason to create a division between us.
What matters more is that we love you, despite all the differences.
8There are certain things in life we want to figure out on our own, even at the cost of making mistakes. We cannot be living on someone else’s experiences. We don’t intend to disobey you, we’re just trying to live life on our terms.
9The generation gap will play its part. It may make life harder on both the sides. You may find it difficult to cope with our lifestyle and beliefs. But all we need is acceptance and trust. It will definitely strengthen our bond.
10There are times when you really want to support our life decisions. But we fail to understand it. There are numerous reasons for the same.
The fear of being judged by the society always stays back in your mind. You may disagree with our decisions but we know, you understand. We’re a team and who cares what anyone else thinks? Logo ka kaam hae kehna!
All that is said comes from a youngster. A young blood who is growing each day and dearly loves his parents. All said and done, dear parents you have and will always be the most important part of our lives. No amount of generation gap can weaken our bond!
