An advert on the front page of Pakistani newspaper Jang has drawn vocal complaints from critics who deemed it to be obscene.
The advert, for mobile operator Mobilink, features Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri pictured lying down in a red dress and holding a mobile phone has created a stir over social media, where people have condemned it by calling the advertisement cheap and absurd.Among the critics were prominent journalist Ansar Abbasi, who also works for Jang:
My strong protest to top jang group management for this absurd front page ad in today’s jang. pic.twitter.com/M5SRc1p3H7

Other comments accused the ad of dirtying the newspaper and making it look like Playboy. One said: Today they have put Nargis’s image. Tomorrow they will show (Desi porn star) Sunny Leone.

Nargis Fakhri, a US citizen of Pakistani and Czech heritage, has appeared in a number of Bollywood films as well as recent US comedy Spy.
Responding to some complaints on Twitter, she appeared bemused by the fuss the advert had caused. In one tweet she said; “Just saw this ad and thought what’s all the fuss about? It’s creative very different.”
While it is not quite clear why the ad resulted in such fury on the internet, one can hazard a guess at her beautiful body curves splashed on the front page of the newspaper.
