Masala Awards 2015 were held on 5 November at Madinat Arena in Dubai where several Bollywood stars and Pakistani artistes bagged awards in various categories. Started in 2008, Masala Awards recognizes the contribution of the Asian region and includes various categories.
Pakistani actress Mahira Khan was declared “Best Actress” for her performance in the movie “Bin Roye”. Her acceptance speech stirred the audience with cheers. She said “In my own small way, I am representing Pakistani cinema here today on an international platform.”
Last year, Fawad Khan was given the ‘Best Debutant of Bollywood’ award while Humaima got the ‘Best breakthrough Performer of the Year’.

Varun Dhawan won the “Actor of the Year” award for his performance in “Badlapur”. Both Varun and Mahira will next be seen in two different Shahrukh Khan films, “Dilwale” and “Raees”.

Jacqueline Fernandez, who was last seen in “Brothers”, bagged the “Style icon of the year” award; the gorgeous diva looked stunning in a white dress at the event.

Sonu Nigam won the “Best Live Performer of the Year” award while Kanika Kapoor won the “Voice of the Year” award.
Pakistani singer Farhan Saeed, who was the lead vocalist of the band “Jal”, bagged the “Most Promising Singer” award.

Simi Garewal won the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement” award.

Varun Dhawan also received another award on behalf of his father David Dhawan, who was awarded for “Outstanding contribution to Indian cinema”.
