We make this mistake very often and that too without realising how the person next to us would feel about it. He could interpret this behaviour as bad manners or even attitude. Timely follow-ups to formal meetings
This is really important when it comes to your formal dealings. You should have a proper record of all the meetings and conversations. You should give proper and timely replies to all the calls and messages if you want to be called a gentleman/woman.
Rude behaviour with juniors
If you are very nice to your boss and to the people who are senior to you, it’s good. You have to be! But that doesn’t mean you can be rude with your juniors or someone younger to you! If you want them to do back biting, it’s your call.
