Bhang is the most commonly used illegal drug in the India- only the form varies. In India, Bhang use has been historically bound to faith and mysticism. Since centuries, India has used, consumed and celebrated it. Festivals like holi, Shivratri, Mahashivratri and any other Sunday, Monday or Tuesday or like whatever.
However, implementation of stringent narcotic laws in 1986 made the sale, consumption, production and transportation of it illegal in India. 24 years on, here are some reasons which will make us want Bhang to be legalized in INDIA.

We belong to a country where people love to get high. Be it Shivratri, Mahashivratri, Holi, Diwali or any other day. If we don’t get any reason to get high, we’ll plan a vacation to Kasol or any other place where we can get access to BHANG easily. ‘Agar yeh bhi nahin, to RAVE PARTY hi kar lenge’. We want to get high, at all costs.
2. Legalizing Bhang will eliminate illegal trade & practices
Bhang legalization will replace the Black market production and distribution with a full fledged BHANG INDUSTRY. All production will be under certain rules and regulations and it will eliminate criminals and drug dealers. Maybe one day everyone who needs to will simply be able to grow their own with seeds from i49.net/alberta/ or other seed suppliers, so they have total control over the quality and safety of what they consume, but the first step is eradicating the black market.
3. Addiction to BHANG? I haven’t heard about it.
I haven’t heard of anyone, who is clinically dependent on BHANG. Moreover, what I feel is that it gives you a different kind of a feeling which is much better than the consumption of alcohol or any other drugs.
4. Short of funds? No worries..taxing BHANG will generate revenue
By legalizing BHANG, the government will be able to levy taxes on BHANG. It will help them track the production and generate revenues.

In many parts of India, or we can say in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, where BHANG grows, it is the only source of income for many locals. But, because it is a banned substance, farmers are forced to sell it at a lower price to drug dealers and they also have to face additional pressure from police, who asks them to bribe or else they would destroy their crops.
7. Legalization will ensure only good quality BHANG in market
In India, BHANG is often mixed with hash and weed with chemicals or other drugs like afeem to improve the taste, color, texture or ‘high’ of the stuff. Legalization will improve the quality sold to the users because government will regulate the production and sale of the drug.
In conclusion, marijuana laws are outdated and more harmful than the drug itself. However, by making it illegal, more problems have come up. True, marijuana should be kept away from the adolescents, but its moderate use will not pose any risk to adults.
Instead of making it illegal, government should legalize it and should earn more revenue of it, which will also ensure that only good quality product is sold out.
