Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has suffered injuries after being involved in a bike accident here early this morning.
He has been admitted to Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra.
According to sources, one of Hirani’s employees had purchased a new Royal Enfield motorcycle and asked him if he wanted to ride it. The 52-year-old director agreed and was driving at a low speed, but could not manage the bike’s weight and fell.
The “PK” director apparently fractured his jaw and sustained a gash on the chin in the mishap and is likely to be operated.
The director, screenwriter and film editor is best known for Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006), 3 Idiots (2009) and PK (2014).
All the films directed by Hirani went on to become huge successes at the box office.
Twitter meanwhile was abuzz with the news and as always, it doesn’t spare anyone:

Now that we know Rajkumar Hirani’s injury is minor & he’ll be well soon, thankfully… No one should ride a bike without a helmet. — कनिका गहलौत (@kanikagahlaut) August 11, 2015
And then his favourite actor-friend visited him: Â
For all those concerned about Raju Hirani, I have just met him in hospital. He is doing fine, and will be discharged this evening.
