As if Christmas isn’t already magical enough, this 25th a perfect Full Moon is going to be putting in a rare appearance. What makes it magical is the fact that it will be the first since 1977 and just the ninth in the course of American history!
The spectacle, which will be the first of its kind to have appeared on this most festive of occasions for 38 years, will also be the final full moon of 2015. The next Christmas full moon won’t appear until the year 2034.
This December 25, the moon will officially becomes full at 6:11 a.m., just one hour before it sets. The full moon will then rise again at 5:32 p.m. on Christmas evening. If this sounds like something you are interested in, you will need to be up at 6.11 am to catch a glimpse, but as its Christmas, we can’t see that being too difficult.
November’s full moon fell on Thanksgiving, and this month’s Full Moon will fall on Christmas!
