Obama’s Letter On Feminism Is Intense! Go On, Read…

Feminism – a word that has always been misunderstood, and misconceived in its truest sense, probably owing to the limited definition of feminism that has been made available to us by the “people” who are scared; who are scared that if feminism prevails, there would be “equitable” distribution of resources, and certainly that, would be a ‘threat’ to their very present.

Even, the President of United States Barack Obama shares a similar take on ‘Feminism’ in his recent letter to Glamour Magazine:

Being raised by a single mother, he mentions that he is quite aware of the challenges women face and that is certainly what has shaped his idea of ‘Feminism’. He raised a question on the societal gender stereotypes that pressurize girls to look and behave in a certain manner. These are the same stereotypes that teach men about their masculinity, thereby pushing them to be assertive in nature.

Focusing on the need of changing the attitude, he said: “We need to keep changing the attitude that punishes women for their sexuality and rewards men for theirs.”

He also revealed his insecurities as a father of two daughters and believes that it is certainly important that their dad is a feminist because with the way things are turning, all girls want their dads to be feminists.

According to Obama, “The idea of twenty-first-century feminism is about: the idea that when everybody is equal, we are all more free.”

I feel like every idea is subject to criticism, ‘feminism’ too can be but only after it is understood in its righteousness.
