I am sure you must have come across the name Malala Yousafzai. And for many, it is not just a name but a journey that keeps them motivated and going. We all look upto successful people for encouragement and make them our idols.
Malala is such great soul that has touched and achieved a lot at a very young age. Her story has won so many battles that even after getting so much  fame, she stays dedicated towards her goals and shares the message of peace all over, that happens to be the need of the hour.
On her birthday, Khurki takes you through that very journey that has been talked about since the day when this brave soul was shot at on her head, but she overcame death and decided to come out more stronger with a mission.
Hailing from the beautiful destination of Swat Valley in Pakistan, Malala was born this day in 1997 as the eldest child of Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toorpekai Yousafzai; having two younger brothers and the family ran a chain of schools.
Back in 2008 at the age of 11, when most of us are tackling with our school homework, she started speaking about education rights. She inhaled so much of courage that inspite of receiving death threats, she questioned the audacity of the Taliban to snatch away her basic rights.
At the age of 15, she survived a bullet to the head by the Taliban and rejoined her fight for human rights.
In September 2014, her Foundation helped hundreds of Syrian refugees cross safely into Jordan.
On her 18th Birthday, she opened a school near the Syrian Border for girls aged 14-18.
She went to Nigeria to advocate for the 219 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram and met with the few who had escaped.
The children’s edition of her memoir, I am Malala, was published as an Audiobook, that won the 2015 Grammy Award for the best Children’s Album.
Despite being a global campaigner, she managed straight as in high-school.
She was bestowed with Sitara-e-Shujaat, Pakistan’s third highest civilian bravery award in October 2012. In November same year, she was presented with Mother Teresa Awards for Social Justice.
The Clinton Foundation presented her with the Clinton Global Citizen Award in 2013.
The European Parliament honoured her with the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 2013.
In 2104, Malala became the youngest recipient and the only Pakistani to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She joked adding the statement that she was probably the only Nobel laureate who still fought with her younger brothers.
