I cringe when I read about what people are doing to fellow people in this world.
Hadn’t we had enough of organ selling and womb selling that now the demand has risen to full “life selling”. At a time scientists are working towards creating life cell technologies and people are spending millions of dollars to preserve the bodies of their kids waiting for science to find solutions to bring them back to life, we have the concept of newborns being sold for the petty gains of a few.
What’s happened in Telangana is for all to see. Though the kingpin of the baby selling racket has been arrested, it remains to be seen whether this would mean that babies won’t be sold any more.
If adopting a baby, just be careful you are not patronising the child selling mafia.
1. Please do not adopt kids from any middleman or agency which is not government listed
2. Try and find out if there is any coercion involved in the adoption process.
3. If adopting from a rural couple or illiterate people, please involve the Sarpanch in the matter
4. Ask for the woman’s medical records during pregnancy
5. Get the medical examination of the child done with the local primary health centre, including tests for Hepatitis and AIDS
6. Make sure you meet the biological mother of the child and spend good time with her.
7. Find about the health of the baby’s siblings and their medical history to be better informed about the child you are adopting.
8. Get the adoption deed registered with the DC office or local government department.
9. Please check the original birth certificate of the child.
10 Get the birth certificate re-issued in your name immediately.
And remember, anyone giving up their babies for adoption are doing so for a better future for their kids and would never sell their kids, so please do not pay anyone and patronize this business. Another thing, all children loitering around are either being trained for thefts or begging, so be alert and spot them.
