Karva Chauth has arrived. Most of the ladies observe a day long bhooke-pyaase fast for their husband’s long life.
Though this is one of the oldest traditions being practiced, don’t you think this tradition is quite regressive to follow. The women not only starve themselves for the whole day but also abstain from having even a drop of water just so their husbands can live a long life?? Seriously??
Can anyone imagine how will God differentiate between men whose wives have observed fast for them from those who didn’t. Completely meaningless tradition that enslave a woman. Today every girl needs to be sensible and know what is good and right for them. Please don’t starve yourselves.
Change begins from me, so I am going to break the rule and give you reasons why starving is useless:
Fasting on Karva Chauth doesn’t certify you as a good wife. Don’t starve just because you want to make your in-laws happy
Wake up ladies, this is 21st century. There is no special power that will grant your beloved a longer life
In spite of these superstitions and traditions, India is still a male-dominated society and all they want is to suppress the woman
If you think this is how you can make your beloved happy, then trust me you are a big fool. No man who really loves you would ask you to starve for him
If it is about personal choices, please do with honesty and happiness. Cut out the drama and show-off
How many men follow this tradition for their wives? 3 out of 10. Lol, that’s so unrealistic ….Huh!
It’s completely old fashioned now. All that jazz of Puja, touching husband’s feet, mehndi, red sarees….You are just a puppet in all this drama
Today we are fighting for equality. So don’t be a pawn and let yourself down in order to show yourself superior
And to add to your knowledge, even the B-Town celebs, whom you blindly follow, are moving away from this tradition. How many movies besides Sooraj Barjatya’s show this age-old tradition?
Move over Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty and Sridevi, our current heartthrob Vidya Balan has dared to break the rule.
Recently at the red carpet, when Vidya was asked how she was planning to celebrate Karva Chauth, her reply was epic: “I don’t believe in Karva Chauth. I will never be hungry for anyone”.
There you go girl…….
