Pawan Kajal is the Kangra MLA. He contested and won as an Independent. He is son of late Shri Amar Singh. He was born on 6th May 1974 at Sahoura, Distt. Kangra. He is a matriculate from Himachal Pradesh Board in 1991. He is married to Smt. Monica Kajal.
Constituency Represented
Kangra is the most populous district of the state. Dharamsala is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is home of Masroor Rock Cut Temple, also known as Himalayan Pyramids and wonder of the world for being likely contender for the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kangra is known for having the oldest serving Royal Dynasty in the world Katoch. Kangra became a district of British India in 1846, when it was ceded to British India at the conclusion of the First Anglo-Sikh War. The British district included the present-day districts of Kangra, Hamirpur, Kullu and Lahul and Spiti. Kangra district was part of the British province of Punjab. The administrative headquarters of the district were initially at Kangra, but were moved to Dharamsala in 1855.
Political Standing
Pawan Kajal is associated with various social activities and remained President & Member of various temple Committees. He was Secretary, Distt. BJP; Co- coordinator, BJP, Panchayati Raj Cell and Member, Zila Parishad Kangra (twice). He was elected to the State Legislative Assembly for the first time in 2012. He won by a margin of 563 votes. Choudhary Surender Kumar of Congress was the trailing candidate.
