In a huge setback to Education Minister Smriti Irani, a Delhi court has decided that a complaint against her for having misrepresented her qualifications is “maintainable”. This means, it will now examine how valid the complaint is. The next hearing has been fixed for August 28.
In face of the fact that AAP Minister of the Delhi Government Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested a couple of days back for a fake degree, this is a very embarrassing development for the Modi government.
The case against Smriti has been filed by a freelance writer Ahmer Khan, accusing her of making contradictory claims about her college education in documents filed with the Election Commission.
