After yatra success, BJP plans more such events for Himachal

Shimla, July 10: After the successful Parivartan Rath Yatras, the BJP plans to organise more such events to keep the tempo going during the run-up to the Assembly polls in the year.“The state executive of the party will meet shortly after the culmination of the yatra on July 10 to chalk out the further programme after reviewing the outcome of the yatra,” state BJP chief Satpal Satti told the Tribune .“The Congress ridiculed the BJP for launching the yatra and termed it a flop show but after realising its impact, it has been forced to launch counter-yatras,” he said, adding that the Congress was divided even on the issue of yatras to be launched and Youth Congress president Vikramaditya Singh and state Congress chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu were toeing different lines by announcing Vikas Prachar Yatra and Pad Yatra, he added.

The BJP virtually kicked off its election campaign with an impressive rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital soon after its landslide victories in the neighbouring Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. In the next phase, the BJP will start Pad Yatra for door-to-door campaign, said former party chief and BJP MLA from Shimla Urban Suresh Bhardwaj.

The Parivartan Rath Yatra of the BJP projected a united face and all leaders used the yatra for attacking the Virbhadra government and the Congress, highlighting the achievements of Modi.The BJP associated the Chief Ministers of seven states, nation leaders and the top state leaders like former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and PK Dhumal, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, state chief Satti.

During the three-week yatras, the BJP held 68 big rallies and about 600 Swagat Samaroh in which the BJP chief ministers not only attacked the state government for rampant corruption and mafia raj, but also highlighted the developments that have taken place in BJP-governed states to draw a comparison.

Besides seeking support of people, the BJP also sought blessings of Gods to root out the Congress and all yatras started from religious places and culminated at famous shrines. The Mandi Yatra culminated on July 4, Shimla Yatra on July 5, Kangra Yatra on July 8 while the Hamirpur yatra would culminate on July 10.All MPs, MLAs, party in-charge and co in-charge joined the yatra while at the Assembly constituency and block level, all key functionaries were involved and thousands of people joined the party, said BJP vice-president Ganesh Dutt.
