Shimla, June 29: With a view to easing traffic congestion in Shimla, the HP High Court directed the state authorities to explore the possibility of an elevated road from Tunnel No. 103 up to the Old Bus Stand.
The court directed the committee constituted by it to examine the proposal and technical feasibility thereof and submit its report within two weeks.A division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan further directed the Committee to examine the feasibility of an over road pedestrian bridge from near the High Court parking to the Mall Road.
The court passed the order on a PIL highlighting the issue of traffic jams in and around Shimla. In its earlier order, the court had constituted an eight-member committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Engineer, HPPWD, to give suggestions on improving transport facilities and developing road infrastructure in and around the town. It had also directed the committee to consult the authorities concerned.
