Dr Dhani Ram Shandil is the MLA representing Solan in the Vidhan Sabha. He is the son of late Shri Narainu Ram Shandil. He was born on 20th October, 1940 at Village Bashel, Tehsil Kandhaghat, Distt Solan. Dr Dhani Ram Shandil has served the elite Dogra Regiment of Indian Army and is Bharat Jyoti Award winner. He is married to Indira Shandil.
Constituency Represented
Solan is the district headquarters of Solan district created on 1 September, 1972. The largest Municipal Council of Himachal Pradesh, it is located 46 kilometres south of the state capital, Shimla. The place is named after the Hindu Goddess Shoolini Devi. Every year in the month of June, a fair celebrating the Goddess is held, featuring a 3-day mela at the central Thoudo Grounds. Solan was the capital of the erstwhile princely state, Bhagat.
Political Standing
Dr Dhani Ram Shandil is the Indian National Congress MLA, elected as MLA from this Vidhan Sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 4472 votes. Kumari Sheela of BJP was the trailing candidate.
