Shimla, June 22: The south-west monsoon is likely to arrive in Himachal in the last week of June. It has reached Bihar till date and will take a week to move westwards. The normal dates for the arrival of monsoons are between June 26 and June 30.
Meanwhile, the pre-monsoon showers continue to lash the region. Several parts of the state experienced moderate to heavy rain today. Dharamsala received 104 mm rain, followed by Kangra 60 mm, Solan 58 mm and Nagrota Surian 53 mm.Baijnath and Keylong recorded 33 mm and 30 mm rain, respectively, while tourist resorts of Kasauli, Manali and Shimla received 23 mm, 19 mm and 16 mm rain, respectively.
The rain has led to sharp fall in mercury. The day temperatures dropped by three to five degree. Una recorded day temperature of 31.4 degree, Sundernagar 24.8 degree, Shimla 20.2 degree, Bhuntar 21 degree, Kalpa 16 degree and Manali 14.Kalpa and Keylong recoreded minimum temperature of 9.2 degree and 10.1 degree, respectively, while Manali and Shimla recorded minimum temperatures of 11 degree and 15.2 degree, respectively.
The local Met office has predicted rain and thundershowers at several places in mid and lower hills and rain or snow in higher regions till June 27.
