Shimla, June 2: As contestants will file nominations from tomorrow, the State Election Commission has directed the district returning officer to include supplimentary lists in the final voter list, published on May 5, 2017, for the June 16 municipal polls. About 91,320 voters to cast votes. According to the May 5 voter list, there are 88,164 voters (47,424 men and 40,740 women) in 34 wards.The district returning officer has added two elementary lists which have 2,146 and 1,017 voters.
But these two lists are mismatching with the two supplementary lists available with the four assistant returning officers, revealed officials.As per the May 5 list, Krishna Nagar, a reserved ward, has 3,831 voters, the highest in the city, while newly constituted ward Upper Dhalli has just 814 voters, the lowest number.
Ruldabhata has 3,699, the second highest followed by newly created Sangti ward, which has 3,670 votes, old Khalini ward 3,558 voters and newly created Vikasnagar ward has 3,262 voters.The newly-created Majath ward of Shimla rural has 1,178 voters and Bhattakufar has 1,291 voters.
“We have asked the commission to include all voters”, said Sanjay Chauhan, Shimla Mayor. ADM protocol Suneel Sharma said they would remove all mismatch in two supplementary voters as there was some addition and subtraction in a few cases in these supplementary lists.
“We will rectify it by evening and the final list will be sent to the four assistant returning officers”, he added. He said they had made all preparations for filing of nominations starting tomorrow. The commission has directed the returning officer to include the supplementary list prepared prior to May 5 finalised by the commission as per direction of the High Court, said secretary to the state election commission, Dr Ashwani Sharma.
