Shimla, June 20: Sportspersons and schoolchildren participated in a run organised to mark the arrival mini-Olympic torch here on Monday. The event will held at Hamirpur from June 22 to 25.The torch led by Col Kuldeep Banshtu, coordinator of the mini-Olympic, arrived at the local municipal ground here.
It was received by Satinder Trehan, president, District Olympic Association and Vishal Sharma, general secretary.The mini-Olympic torch was taken through the main market, Tehsil Chowk, Dharamshala Road and College Road before it returned to the municipal ground.
The mini-Olympic torch was taken to Una, Dhaulatpur and Nurpur before it arrived here. Col Kuldeep Banshtu said the torch would be taken to Joginder Nagar from where it would reach Mandi, Kullu. It will reach Hamirpur via Bilaspur and Nalagarh. He said the event aims to encourage sports and in all sports persons will compete in 11 categories.
