Shimla, Aug 25: A girl assumed to be in her 20s was found with slit throat in Bharwain area of Kangra district on the borders of Una district in Himachal Pradesh on late Friday noon. The bloodstained body was found lying in the bushes. It was spotted by the local people and later police was informed.
Investigations in this case were started by the police. The case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Though the body has not been identified, there are probabilities that the girl might be from Punjab as a lot of tourists come to this area with a shrine at Chintpurni falling here.
The body has been sent for the postmortem to Dr. Rajendera Prasad Medical College Tanda near here. Police have refused to divulge anything else when asked about the probabilities of sexual assault. They said that the body was covered, but the throat was slit. A forensic team was called to the spot to gather the evidence.
Deputy superintendent of police Lal Man Sharma said that they had reached the spot. “This area falls under Dehra police station. We had reached the spot. The body has been sent for the postmortem and the forensic team has also collected evidences from the spot,” he said.
