Shimla, June 27: Commuters were left stranded for hours on the Manali-Pathankot highway this morning when the road was blocked due to a flash flood in the nearby rivulet. However, later it was opened. Eyewitnesses said muck was deposited on the road because of the flash flood in the rivulet that halted the traffic for four hours.
Incessant rain on Sunday had triggered landslides in various parts of the district and increased the volume of water in rivulets. Commuters claimed that they were stranded for hours because of the inefficiency on the part of the district administration to clear the road. Earlier, commuters tried to open the road on their own, but couldn’t succeed.
Later, the district administration engaged its machinery to open the road. Mandi DSP Rajesh Kumar said the road was opened in the morning by the administration.
