Shimla, July 28: The Opposition BJP today claimed to have burnt as many as 7,479 effigies of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh as each booth level activist of the state set affire one effigy. Party spokesman for BJP state unit Rajiv Bindal said that BJP had given an ultimatum to the Chief minister to tender his resignation before July 26 taking moral responsibility of increasing crime and deteriorating law and order in the state.
Since the CM did not quit, it burnt as many as 7,479 effigies of CM on each booth level by its activists. He said that lawlessness and government support to the culprits increased the crime graph under the state government.
There is no fear of rule of law as the culprits were being protected by Mr Singh’s government. The people of state are in a quandary as they are becoming victims of such crimes which are perpetrated by the goons under the state shelter.
BJP Yuva Morcha would lodged protest against such atrocities in the state and state Mahila Morcha would aware the women to fight against the such elements , he added.
While handing over the memorandum to Himachal Pradesh Governor recently, the BJP state unit had warned Mr Singh to tender resignation till July 26 after the sensational Gudiya gangrape and murder case.
