Dharamshala, Sep 6: After the Congress, the BJP will make all-out efforts to attract the youth. The party has planned a rally in Kangra on September 22 to be addressed by party president Amit Shah. BJP leaders have declared that one lakh youth will attend the rally. It is supposed to be the last major political rally of the BJP before the code of conduct for the Assembly elections comes to force.Sources said the senior leadership was in a huddle to discuss the issues for the proposed rally. The BJP might try to counter the efforts of the Congress to attract the unemployed youth. There are about 2 lakh unemployed youth registered with the Employment Department.
The Congress had implemented a scheme to give unemployment allowance to the youth. Sources here said the government had started paying Rs 1,500 per month as unemployed allowance to the youth. Over one lakh youth have been registered by the government under the scheme.
The scheme that has been launched months before the poll is aimed at electoral gains. Since the scheme has been launched and financial benefits have started reaching the youth, the Congress said it would influence about 2,000 to 4,000 votes in each constituency. Senior leaders, including Shanta Kumar and Pawan Rana, held a meeting at Jawalamukhi to motivate the party workers for the rally.
