Shimla, Sep 1: Protesting against the negative role played by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) in the Kotkhai minor rape and murder case, the ABVP today lodged their protest at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and even violated Section 144 by entering The Mall Road in huge number.
Accusing the state police of becoming a puppet in the hands of the state government and implicating innocent people to safeguard the real culprits, ABVP state secretary Hema Thakur said the samples of the six accused arrested by the SIT had tested negative in the DNA profiling which implied that none of the arrested persons were involved in the case.
Claiming that either the samples sent by the police were tempered with or the arrest made in the case were made to hush up the case. She said that if Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh would not resign now, the ABVP would launch a state -wide agitation to press for his resignation.ABVP district president Lalit Thakur said that protests were lodged in all the colleges across the state.
He said that the ABVP would unite the students of all the colleges in the Shimla district and demand resignation of the Chief Minister.Meanwhile, Former ABVP president of Himachal Pradesh University Gaurav Attri said it was unfortunate that the state government and police had been insensitive towards rape and murder of the minor girl and was trying to hush up the case by arresting poor people.
