In India, the spouse and the child is supposed to take the last name of the father. But there are some Bollywood celebs who have chosen to take the last name of their mother for various reasons.
Just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali chose to keep his mother’s name as his middle name, there are others who have done the same.
Meet some of these Bollywood celebs:
1. Imran Khan
Imran was born to Nuzhat Khan and Anil Pal. But after his parents divorced, he chose his mother’s last name, as she was the one who got his custody.
2. Lisa Haydon
This model-cum-actress also uses her mother’s maiden surname. Not many of her fans know that her father is a South Indian.
3. Raima and Riya Sen
The infamous sisters have chosen to carry their mother’s last name, although the move did not help them much. Did you know that their father Bharat Dev Varma comes from a royal lineage?
4. Aditi Rao Hydari
The sultry actress has chosen to include the last name of her mother and father in her name. Both her parents have a royal connection, so she obviously could not choose one over the other.
5. Konkana Sen Sharma
The dusky beauty from Bengal has kept her mother’s last name and also her father’s. And she confessed that she loves them both dearly, so it means a lot to her.
6. Mallika Sherawat
Not many people know that her real name is Reema Lamba? But when she had to choose a screen name for herself, she chose her mother’s last name, as she has been her pillar of strength from day one.
