Political Standing
Prakash Chaudhary has been involved in rehabilitation of widows and helping old and physically handicapped people. He remained Member, Block Development Committee, Mandi Sadar, 1992-96; General Secretary, Youth Congress, District Mandi; President, Seva Dal, Balh and Member, P.C.C. Elected to State Legislative Assembly as Himachal Vikas Congress candidate in 1998 but soon joined Bharatiya Janata Party. He was re-elected in 2007 on Indian National Congress’ ticket. He remained Minister of State for Animal Husbandry (Independent Charge) Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, 1998-2003; Member, Welfare and General Development Committees during 2008-2012. He was elected as MLA from this Vidhan Sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 3116 votes. Inder Singh of BJP was the trailing candidate.
