But later a life time ban for involvement in match-fixing ended his career in disgrace.
His life was nothing but a film in itself yet it took 30 visits and many meeting with Ekta Kapoor for making him agree for the film on his life.
After the agreement of Indian captain, Ekta  chose one of the most versatile actors from bollywood, Emraan Hashmi. On Thursday, Azharuddin and Emraan were both present for a preview presentation of the biopic in Mumbai. A teaser named Ek Khuda, Do Shaadi Aur Match-Fixing (One God, two wives and match-fixing) and captured the essence of his dramatic career on-and-off the field.
Later, Azharuddin said that it covers all the important issues attached with his life. he also praised Emraan’s skills and even said that he will be known as Azhar impressed by his looks film is set to scheduled to release in May 2016.
Before the glam T20 era and after party trends and even before  the glitz and glamour of the T20 era and even before the God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar’s fame, it was Azharuddin who was the poster-boy of Indian cricket.
The fact that he was unique. Copying his batting style which was full of excellence and experience was one task that Hashmi hasn’t found easy to perform.
