Farhan Akhtar Launches His Great Grandfather’s Poetry Book and said he felt ‘joyous’ at the occasion.
Muztar Khairabadi, Farhan Akhtar’s great grandfather, had penned down a poetry book titled ‘Khirman’ and compiled by the family over a decade before finally unveiling it..!!
The event, which took place in the national capital, saw the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari.
Muztar Khairabadi popularly known as Iftikhar Hussain was an Indian Urdu poet. He was the father of noted poet and lyricist Jan Nisar Akhtar and grandfather of Javed Akhtar and Salman Akhtar.
He received numerous distinguishing titles Khan Bahadur, Eitbar-ul-Mulk, and Iftikhar-ul-Shaura. Khairabadi wrote many poetry books which have been praised by writers and poets. He also published a literary magazine entitled Karishama-e-Dilbar. Most of his literary work has been lost.
He died 1927 in Gwalior and is buried there.
