A major earthquake of magnitude 7.5 on Richter scale struck Nepal and parts of North and Northeast India on Friday. Widespread damage is being reported from Nepal.
While everyone should be safe, here are 8 important tips in case of earthquake in your area:
1. The most important thing to do is: Do Not Panic
2. Drop down on your knees; take cover under a desk or table and hold on
3. If indoors, stand next to a wall until the shaking stops and you’re sure it’s safe to exit
4. Stay away from bookcases or furniture that can fall on you
5. Stay away from windows. In a high-rise building, expect the fire alarms and sprinklers to go off during a quake
6. If you are in bed, hold on and stay there, protecting your head with a pillow
7. If you are outdoors, find a clear spot away from buildings, trees, and power lines. Drop to the ground
8. If you are in a car, slow down and drive to a clear place. Stay in the car until the shaking stops.
Best Of Luck! Stay Safe!
