We all love watching movies and many of us even go to the extent of booking the first day first show for all our favourite movies!

Sometimes some movies are not hyped much despite the fact that they are a masterpiece in themselves. These type of films have a very limited audience who choose to watch quality cinema.

Here’s Khurki’s list of some amazingly crafted films in 2015 which were sadly underrated :

7 Angry Indian Goddesses

A 2015 Hindi drama film, directed by Pan Nalin with Sandhya Mridul, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sarah-Jane Dias, Anushka Manchanda, Amrit Maghera, Rajshri Deshpande and Pavleen Gujral playing lead roles with Adil Hussain. It was screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where it finished second in the voting for the People’s Choice Award. Being billed as India’s first all-out female buddy film, it marks Nalin’s debut in mainstream Hindi cinema. The film was released worldwide on November 27 to highly positive reviews.

6 Titli

Titli is a 2015 Bollywood drama film written and directed by Kanu Behl, co-produced by Dibakar Banerjee Productions Pvt. Ltd and Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It features actors Ranvir Shorey, Amit Sial, Shashank Arora, Lalit Behl and Shivani Raghuvanshi in lead roles. In Titli, Behl captures the volatility of a society where violence lies uneasily just below the surface. The directorial debut film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. The film was released in India on October 30.

5 Manjhi

Manjhi – The Mountain Man is a 2015 Indian biographical film, based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi. Manjhi, widely known as the Mountain Man, was a poor labourer in Gehlaur village, near Gaya in Bihar, who carved a path through a hill using only a hammer and chisel. The film is directed by Ketan Mehta, jointly produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and NFDC India. Upon release, the film received positive critical acclaim. Nawazuddin Siddiqui enacted the role of Dashrath Manjhi, while Radhika Apte played Manjhi’s wife. The film was released worldwide on 21 August.

4 Court

Court is a 2014 Indian courtroom drama film, written and directed by Chaitanya Tamhane in his directorial debut. Featuring a cast of new comers, the film examines the Indian legal system through the trial of an ageing folk singer at a Sessions Court in Mumbai. Court premiered at the 71st Venice International Film Festival on 4 September, where it won the Best Film in the Horizons category and the Luigi De Laurentiis (Lion Of The Future) award for Tamhane. Court theatrically released in India on April 17, 2015.

3 Masaan

Fly Away Solo, Masaan, is a directorial debut film of  Neeraj Ghaywan. It is an Indo-French co-production produced by Drishyam Films, Macassar Productions, Phantom Films, Sikhya Entertainment, Arte France Cinema and Pathé Productions. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, winning two awards.

2 Margarita With A Straw

Margarita With A Straw (previously known as Choone Chali Aasman in the Indian market & Margarita With A Straw in the International market) is directed by Shonali Bose, starring Kalki Koechlin. Kalki plays a girl with cerebral palsy. The movie talks about her struggle with the normal activities in her life. Margarita, with a Straw is one of the five projects selected for the Work In Progress Lab of Film Bazaar 2013. The film made its world premiere on 8 September 2014 as part of the Contemporary World Cinema Programme at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It was released in India on April 17, 2015.

1 Talvar

Talvar is a 2015 Bollywood drama film written by Vishal Bharadwaj and directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is based on the 2008 Noida double murder case, in which a teenage girl and her family servant were found murdered, and her parents were convicted for the murders. The film stars Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neeraj Kabi and Sohum Shah in leading roles and Tabu in a guest appearance. The film’s premiere was at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival in September.
