Rani Mukerji and husband Aditya Chopra have been blessed with a baby girl. The couple, who were expecting their first child in January, have named their daughter Adira, an amalgam of their names. The 37-year-old actor delivered a healthy baby on Wednesday morning at Breach Candy Hospital.
“I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans, our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy, we begin this new chapter in our lives,” Rani said in a statement.
The Talaash actor has given Chopra parivaar its very first grandchild and the family is happy to welcome a new addition after a gap of 42 years.
Aditya’s brother Uday Chopra took to Twitter to make the announcement…

Rani tied the knot with Yash Raj Films’ honcho on April 21, 2014 in Italy. The news of Rani dating Aditya went on for years, but it was only in 2014 that the two made their relationship official. The Mardaani actor has kept a low profile ever since the news of her pregnancy came out.

“Rani Mukerji was admitted to the hospital as the doctor felt that she needed to rest for a few days under medical supervision. She was discharged, but has chosen to rest it out in the hospital for a few more days as the baby’s room is being prepared at home and she wanted to be away from the dust and noise. She is perfectly fine and all is well,” Rani’s spokesperson said in a statement.
