An FIR has been filed against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and actor-director Farhan Akhtar for endorsing a shopping portal that allegedly dupes its customers.
The police registered an FIR on the complaint of lawyer Rajat Bansal, a resident of Keshav Nagar area in Madiyaon police station. The sections under which the FIR has been lodged include Section 406 (Forgery) and 420 (Punishment for Criminal Breach of Trust) of IPC. Police is now probing the case.
The directors of the shopping portal askmebazaar.com too have been booked.
Rajat Bansal complained that he had ordered a 40-inch LED TV from askmebazaar.com and paid Rs 29,999 through his debit card. However, he did not get the product within the promised 10 days.
About the film stars, he said they were liable to be sued as they were promoting these websites which entice and cheat people. He said the two were equally responsible for his loss, as they were the brand ambassadors.
