PM stresses on making Himachal organic state

Bilaspur, Oct 4: Realiizing the vast tourism potential of the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday resolved to develop Himachal Pradesh as ‘organic state’ on the pattern of Sikkim.

The PM said that Sikkim is a small state with a population of 10 lakh, and each year it accommodates 10 lakh tourists just because of two major reasons — being organic and keeping clean.

While addressing a BJP rally in Bilaspur town, Modi also stressed on the need of making Himachal a clean state. “Clean Himachal would attract more tourists that would ultimately generate revenue and make people rich,” he observed.

“We all should know that cleanliness will bring more tourists. The state has already done a good job in cleanliness but still more needs to be done as only tourism has the potential to make people of the state prosperous,” he added.

He further observed that Sikkim today is an organic state due to which it attracts tourists equal to its population each year. “Himachal too has the potential and the BJP is ready to convert the dreams of its people into reality,” he added.

The PM also said that roads and electricity has the power to change the fortune of state and to promote tourism.

“All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) being constructed at a cost Rs 1,351 crore would play a crucial role in promoting tourism and attracting more tourists as the people would feel safe in visiting the state due to the availability of quality healthcare facilities,” Modi said.

“AIIMS is proposed to be constructed in around 205 acres of land provided by the state government. Initially, the AIIMS will have 20 super speciality blocks with 750 beds, 100 MBBS seats and 60 nursing seats per batch a year. All the departments will be interconnected with commercial and residential area inside the campus,” he added.
