Shimla May, 18: Amidst reports of escalating tension between the two, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and state Congress president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had a closed door meeting on Wednesday to discuss various issues concerning the ensuing Assembly polls due later this year. Sukhu confirmed having met Virbhadra to discuss various party related issues with Virbhadra in his office in the Secretariat today. The two discussed the issue of the list of top 30 star campaigners of the Congress from the Centre who will campaign during the Assembly polls in Himachal. Besides, AICC president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandh, the thrust of the Congress is to get firebrand young leaders who can counter BJP propaganda.
The CM has not been sparing any opportunity to hit out at Sukhu and demanding that the president should be elected and not nominated one. He has on several occasions in the recent past urged the AICC to change the state Congress president. He is keen that a man of his choice is appointed in place of Sukhu, with whom he does not see eye to eye.
“We discussed the names of the leaders who we would want for campaigning in Himachal during the Assembly elections,” confirmed Sukhu. He said the Congress will prepare a list of all the assistance and development works that the Centre has given to Himachal during the last three years since the formation of Modi regime so as to counter the claims of the BJP.
The Congress is preparing a strategy where it will hit out at the BJP regime for not giving any special incentive or financial help to Himachal despite the fact that the BJP made a clean sweep by winning all four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal. “Neither the PM nor any other BJP leader has made any special announcements for Himachal despite the fact that the people of the state affirmed their complete faith in Modi and the BJP,” said Sukhu
