Shimla, July 15: An earthquake measuring 3.3 on Richter scale hit Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday. As per the latest information, there are no reports of any damage to property or casualties as of now. The state had witnessed mild tremors measuring 3.1 on Richter scale in June as well. The epicentre of the earthquake was Chamba.
Earlier in May, Himachal Pradesh was hit by earthquake for three successive days. Mild tremors were felt in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba region on May 21, triggering panic among the people. “Tremors of earthquake measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale were felt for some seconds at 6.11 am,” local Meteorological Office Director Manmohan Singh was quoted as saying.

Singh had informed the media, at that time, that the epicentre of the quakes, like the two each on May 19, 20 , was again in the Chamba region, bordering Jammu and Kashmir.
In 1905, Himachal Pradesh had witnessed the most devastating earthquake in the Kangra valley that had killed over 20,000 people.
