Shimla July, 11: After remaining weak for three days, monsoons became active in Himachal, especially in Mandi and Kangra as these districts experienced heavy rain. Major rivers and tributaries are in spate and flowing above the danger mark in Mandi district. All the major highways were open for traffic.
Sundernagar was the wettest in the region with 124 mm of rain followed by Sarkaghat 106 mm, Dharamsala 89 mm, Bhoranj 80 mm, Gaggal 79 mm, Mandi 71 mm, Dehra Gopipur 69 mm, Baijnath 60 mm, Bijahi 57 mm, Guler 55 mm, Pandoh 42 mm, Gohar 40 mm, Bharari and Jogindernagar 37 mm, Hamirpur 31 mm, Palampur 29 mm, Baldwara 27 mm, Nagrota Suriyan and Sunni Bahhi 26 mm, Kasauli 23 mm, Kahu and Gumarwin 20 mm each, Sujanpur Tira and Arki 14 mm each, Mashobra 11 mm and Nurpur 10 mm.
The Meteorological Department has issued warning of heavy rain in lower and mid hills of Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, Shimla, Solan and Bilaspur on July 11 and 12 and predicted thundershowers and rain in most of the places in mid and lower hills and rain and snow in some places in high hills.There was no significant change in the maximum and the minimum temperatures.
Una with 37 degree was hottest in day followed by Kangra 32.5 degree and Bhuntar 32 degree while Manali was the coldest at night with a minimum temperature of 14.2 degree followed by Keylong 15.8 degree, Kalpa 16.2 degree, Shimla 17.6 degree and Dharamsala 19.4 degree C.
