Shimla, Aug 29: The Sirmaur police have solved the case of a missing schoolgirl whose partial body was recovered from the Bata river bank on August 23. Two persons were arrested yesterday. DSP, Paonta Sahib, Pramod Chauhan, said Rajinder and Ram Prasad were arrested and they had confessed to have dumped the body of the girl into the river about 300 m from their fields.
They had been remanded to police custody till August 31. He said the girl had gone missing around 11 pm on August 6 after she had gone to the fields to answer the call of nature. She had been electrocuted when she came in contact with an electric fence erected to keep the wild animals away by field owners Ram Prasad and Rajinder.
The duo are brothers and are also related to the family of the deceased.They noticed the girl’s body in the morning and fearing trouble, they dumped the body into the river. The girl’s aunt, however, saw the two men carrying a plastic sack and was suspicious about their activity. She asked her husband Phool Singh to see where the sack had been thrown. Initially, the body could not be seen due to lot of water in the river but it was finally visible on August 23 by the girl’s aunt.
The partial body recovered from the river was cremated by the family without the knowledge of the police.The police, however, after learning about the incident began investigations and Rajinder and Ram Prasad confessed to have dumped her body into the river on the morning of August 7. They also stated that their crop was facing damage from the wild animals and they had, therefore, charged the barbed wire with electric current. The duo were booked under Sections 363, 304 and 201 of the IPC and arrested.
