Asha Kumari MLA from Dalhousie. Dalhousie is a gateway to the ancient Chamba Hill State, now Chamba District of the state of Himachal Pradesh of India. This hill region is a repository of ancient Hindu culture, art, temples, and handicrafts preserved under the longest-running single dynasty since the mid-6th century. Chamba is the hub of this culture. Bharmour, the ancient capital of this kingdom, is home to the Gaddi and Gujjar tribes. It has 84 ancient temples dating from the 7th–10th centuries AD.
Political Standing
Asha Kumari was elected to State Legislative Assembly in 1985 and again in 1993, 1998 & 2003 from Banikhet Assembly Constituency, which after delimitation has been renamed as Dalhouise. She has remained Minister of State for Primary Education (independent charge) from 18th October, 1995 to March, 1998; Education Minister from 6th March, 2003 to 8th February, 2005. Also remained in Panel of Chairman of H.P. Vidhan Sabha and Chairman of various House Committees.
Elected to the State Legislative Assembly for a fifth term in 2012 from Dalhousie Assembly segment; and appointed Chairman, Public Undertakings Committee.
