If we talk about the best Punjabi blend, what would it be?
I think it would be when the legend of Punjabi music industry Gurdas Maan and the present day heartthrob Diljit Dosanjh perform on the same stage.
Yes, you heard it right!!
Gurdas Maan – the name is enough to tell you thousands of tales. If the legendary artist has proven his mettle by respecting the Punjabi Virsa in his songs, the younger Sardar Ji has lent his melodious vocals to the tunes of a golden era.
Recently, the two collaborated for one of the prestigious musical studios in the country, The MTV Coke Studio, for a show to be aired on August 14. Coke Studios (MTV India) is one of the most popular musical shows on Indian TV. It brings together artists who feature new compositions and recreate songs in their own unique way.
This is for the first time that two big Punjabi singers have come together on the youth-based channel to jam on a song written by Gurdas Maan in 1982, which holds value even in today’s society.
The song talks about how girls and boys are changing for the worse, how they are moving away from their roots and the need to realise the value of their own rich tradition.
Dosanjh is humbled and blessed with this opportunity.
So just wait and watch ‘Ki Banu Duniya Da’ and also see ‘Ki Banu is historical collaboration da’.
Excited!!
