We all know that Dussehra is a festival of victory of good over evil. But think for a while that by burning Raavan in the Ramleela ground, are we burning the Raavan in us? You must be thinking that he’s just an actor and it’s just a dialogue. But in reality, it’s actually way beyond that. And yes it’s the reality that we burn Raavan every year because we know that it’s still alive in our own selves. It might be hidden somewhere. Somewhere in the form of ego, somewhere in the form of greed, somewhere it’s existing in the form of anger and somewhere as hatred and jealousy. But the fact is IT IS ALIVE.
And the point this video is raising is that if one thing is already finished, there’s no need to burn it over and over again, which is actually relevant and appropriate. And if we are burning Raavan every year, then it’s proving in itself that Raavan is still among us, still alive. Probably, we are unable to recognize it because it’s not that huge and loud but the way in which it’s affecting our lives is seriously drastic. So, if we really want to win over the evil, we have to identify them first.
And generally, a mistake we all commit is that we try to burn our problems, our tensions and our all the worries with Raavan and think that this is what Dussehra is meant for. So this Dussehra, let’s not only burn the effigy of Raavan, but those small Raavans also which are affecting our lives and are the root cause of those worries.
