We usually see people talking about how to detox our body, but very less on how to detox our mind. It is this mind full of chaos which ponders on the same thoughts again and again which causes distress in our lives and hinders our progress. Let’s learn how to divert our mind from overthinking:
8 Accept
The very first step is to acknowledge the fact that you are overthinking, don’t feel embarrassed of your situation instead try to find a way. If you are unsure, ask your family or friends.
7 Forgive
Once you have admitted that you are an over thinker, forgive yourself of any guilt or wrong doings you think you have done. This will help you from not thinking about those things.
6 Redirect
Try indulging in an activity which will keep your mind busy and away from thinking. It can be anything take up dance classes, photography or you can start pursuing your hobby.
5 Meditate
Whenever you find yourself thinking about something continuously, try to calm your brain by meditating. Take deep breaths for 10 minutes. This will help you focus on the good things and people in your life.
4 Be active
Involve yourself in mind games, keep yourself mentally busy. Challenge yourself to solve crossword puzzles or Sudoku in a set time period. This mental activity won’t let you over think.
3 Laughter therapy
It’s a well-known fact that laughing releases stress bursting hormones, so when you find yourself stressing about a particular thought it’s a good option to practice laughter, it will divert your mind and make you feel good.
2 Take it out
Sometimes just by sharing thoughts which bother you with a friend or family member can help you get rid of them. They can even help you solve the core problem behind these over occurring thoughts.
1 Throw it
This might sound very childish, but researchers have found that just by jotting down all your unwanted thoughts and then crumbling the paper or tearing it into small pieces and dumping it helps you get rid of them.
