Festivals are knocking at our doors and the first festival of the season is Navratri. Everybody is celebrating and having fun. But have you assembled your wardrobe for these nine auspicious nights. Did you know that each day signifies a colour?

Here’s the list..

1. Red is the colour for the 1st day of Navratri

In Hinduism, red is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and embodiment of beauty.

2. Royal blue is the colour for the 2nd day of Navratri

Blue signifies the celestial love of truth. The colour blue is for trust, peace, order and loyalty.

3. Yellow for Day 3

In Hinduism, the divinity Krishna is commonly portrayed dressed in yellow. Yellow is also the colour worn by sadhus, so it is considered holy.

4. Adorn green on Day 4

Green is the colour of growth, the colour of spring, of renewal and rebirth. It renews and restores depleted energy.

5. Gray is the colour for the 5th day of Navratri

It’s the colour of humility and modesty.

6. Day 6 is reserved for orange

The colour orange, or more specifically deep saffron, is the most sacred colour as per the Hindu culture.

7. This 7th day of Navratri, wear white

The colour white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion.

8. And on Day 8, wear pink

The colour pink is sweet, nice, romantic, charming, feminine and tender.

9. Sky blue is the colour for the 9th day of Navratri

So, bring your suits, sarees and dresses out of the almirah and mix and match your jewellery, your tikkas & pasas. And don’t forget to colour coordinate according to the day.
