Shimla, July 10: “The BJP has no political agenda in state, except to target me”, said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said here on Sunday. Even since the BJP came to power at the Centre, three agencies the CBI, ED and Income Tax Department have been deputed to investigate a single case. “I have full faith on judiciary and truth will prevail and I will come out clean. During the BJP regime in Himachal Pradesh when Prem Kumar Dhumal was Chief Minister twice false cases were framed against me. Twice I faced the session trial and was acquitted honourably by the court”, he remarked.
Virbhadra was here today to address the concluding ceremony of ‘Sankalp Shivir’ organized by the Youth Congress in which delegation from all parts of the state took part.He said the BJP always believed in divisive politics. Whenever elections were round the corner, the party tried to divide the people on basis on region and religion. He said that the people should not fall prey to the propaganda of the BJP.
The BJP leaders should learn from former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who ruled the country like a gentleman and kept the spirit of healthy politics alive, he said. Encouraging Youth Congress workers he said there was a need to stand united and work together. The BJP, an offshoot of Jansangh, was not true benefactor of people of the state and can never be practical and think about welfare of the people.“Congress always believes in discipline and unlike BJP, which is struggling for their leadership in Himachal, the Congress believes in development.
I have never seen politics stoop so low where instead of healthy politics, the BJP was involved in only mudslinging” he added.“Terming BJP Rath Yatra as flop show, the Chief Minister said that there was a competition among BJP leaders to sit in the vehicle, the so-called Rath. Doing such yatras won’t benefit them as one needs to go to the people and discuss their problem at the grass root level” the CM added.
Amarinder Singh Brar, president, Indian Youth Congress (IYC), lambasted the BJP and the NDA and said till the time UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and vice -president, Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi were there, the ideology of BJP can’t be imposed on the people of India. He said that candidates from the Youth Congress would be given preference in the next Lok Sabha elections. Member of Parliament from Rohtak, Deepender Singh Hooda said it seemed the people of India were fed up with the BJP regime. Punjab elections had given enough indications of the change in regimes.
